Fes is one of the oldest cities in the world. Mysterious, with the atmosphere of fairy tales "A Thousand and One Nights". I strongly recommend to visit.
Here is the most intricate medina in the world. Under the auspices of UNESCO, and thanks to this fact, preserved in a medieval form to this day. It is forbidden to travel by car and motorcycle. The maximum you can see the bike. And most often a donkey, or a mule with a cart. Often people themselves carry, and transport their goods or purchases with carts. In our experience, this medina is quite safe and very interesting to wander around. Despite the fact that everything here looks and feels so strange and unusual, and in some places gloomy for a European look. In extreme cases, if you are already completely lost and lost, any local boy will help you get to the right place. Of course, for a small fee of 5 or 10 dirhams.
Also in Fez there are chic tropical "jardins" (gardens). You get there, as in an oasis from the desert, having got out of the medina, almost devoid of any vegetation (there are only buildings, people, seals, donkeys and mules).
Royal palaces and ancient defensive walls give Fes a mysterious look.
You need to stay overnight here in riads, or gifts.
Riads and gifts are traditional dwellings characteristic of the Maghreb countries. They were built taking into account the climate and customs of medieval North Africa. Therefore, in summer there is no heat or noise inside. You can calmly and comfortably retire, under the protection of heavy entrance gates, and thick tall walls. In the courtyards of the riads, surrounded by palm trees, flowers, citrus trees, and small fountains, you can have a great rest from the hustle and bustle of the outside world, from heat, noise, and crowds. Which inevitably reign outside the walls of the dwelling. I don't know how, but I'm in love with Moroccan riads. And I advise you to stay in them, and not in ordinary hotels, which are also full on the tour. places in Morocco.
In medinas throughout Morocco, and especially in Fes, all sorts of curiosities are sold. Like oriental incense, walking boots, self-made tablecloths, flying carpets, some wonderful shirts and hoodies, etc., which have no analogues in the shopping centers we are used to.

Morocco. Fes
How do you like this beauty? I don’t know why, but I am immensely fascinated by the sight of a citrus tree strewn with sweet, fragrant fruits. In Morocco, the most common fruits are oranges and tangerines, at least in those parts that I was lucky to see.
In the gardens, and just from the window of a train, or a taxi, you can admire not only citrus, oil and argan and many other trees and palms, all kinds of gorgeous flowers, but also a variety of cacti.
