Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Post by Traveler »

In February 2018, I was lucky enough to visit another charming corner of the world. This time in the German state of Bavaria. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is beautiful at any time of the year. In winter, this is a well-equipped ski resort.
There are a lot of restaurants, cafes, bakeries and confectioneries in the town. There are plenty of culinary delights.
I also came across some amazing souvenir shops here. Where not Chinese shitty consumer goods are sold, but really elegant, thin, fabulous gizmos. But of course the prices are right. People of all ages hang out at the windows of these shops, admiring the splendor presented in them.
In general, G.P. not suitable for a budget holiday., as there are a lot of temptations. And the prices for everything are pretty indecent. Although after Zurich and NY, it seems to be normal.

The main tourist attractions of Garmisch-Partenkirchen are the peaks of the Zugspitz and Alpspitze. The Zugspitze can be reached by a cog railway, laid there from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen train station.
On the Alpspitze there is bass number 2 from the center of G.P.
Rope wagons are lifted to the very tops of the peaks. The journey on the Zugspitz from Garmisch and back cost me 45 euros. Alpspitze day pass 28 euros. In fact, these tickets are travel cards for the day, you can ride them all day on different lifts, going down and up in different directions without restrictions.

On the peaks there are observation platforms, cafes, and of course infrastructure for skiers: equipment rentals, prepared slopes, small lifts, etc.
On the Zugspitz and Alpspitze, you can have a tasty and inexpensive meal (for 15-20 euros) in canteens. True, you must be mentally prepared for long lines.

Ice hotel on the Zugspitz

Post by Traveler »

I found the entrance to the ice cafe and the ice hotel by accident. Seeing that many people were climbing up from the train station, I followed them. And I discovered the entrance to this amazing hotel - a work of art. It is a 2 minute walk uphill from the train station.
